To capture the moments of his favorite films for centuries, designer Ralph Lauren decided to create a collection dedicated to old cinema. He chose one film, apparently one of his loved ones, and created on his basis a new collection.
Ralph Lauren gave preference to the series “Downton Abbey”, and as an accompaniment to the show, he launched the soundtrack to this film.
The main direction of the new collection is women’s costumes troika. This type of clothing was popular for some time in the post -war years, and this style was quite rarely returned to world catwalks.
The fabric from which most of the collection is made is wool. The color scheme selected by Ralph Lauren is a cage or strip.
However, troika costumes are not the only type of clothing that was presented at the show. Feminine dresses of the same time with a low waist harmoniously fit into a new collection.
This is not to say that the color of the created clothing is very bright. Considering that the post-war 20s of the last century were not the most rainbow for America, the tones of the three costumes and dresses were somewhat muffled.
I must say that Ralph Lauren did not just create the same things that were worn at that time. He introduced his own highlight in them: interspersed from beads or patterned cut.
Yes, and all the details of an experienced designer thought through the little things! For example, for dresses, he created beautiful bolero, which, by the way, are made of feathers.
In general, the whole collection is the personification of simplicity and elegance.
