A certain autonomy of the submarine compartments leads to the fact that a relatively small group of the ship is dismantled into small groups of sailors. At the Mir orbital station, up to seven people could work at the same time.
At the created international orbital station, 10 or more people will be able to live. It is assumed that the crew of the interplanetary ship, which is planned to be sent to Mars until 2020., will consist of tentatively of ten specialists. In conditions of forced group insulation, they will have to stay for about three years. Members of Arctic and Antarctic expeditions are up to a year or more in the conditions of small isolated groups. Forced group insulation is not exhausted by the listed situations. It is much wider (fishing seiners, border outposts, bunkers of strategic missile systems, etc.).
Group isolation as a socio-psychological problem arose with a significant increase in the time of autonomous swimming of sailing ships and ships, on which, due to difficult conditions among sailors, conflicts and riots often arose, which were suppressed with medieval cruelty. Especially this problem rose in the XX century.
