Sofas of this type are remembered by characteristic clicks when unfolding or raising the backrest. This happens due to a mechanism that the French developed.
It allows you to set three back positions, unlike a book sofa:
- Sitting – the back is raised at the maximum angle relative to the seat;
- Half-sitting or “relax” position – the back is tilted, which allows you to relax the muscles of the back and neck after a hard day;
- Lying down – the back is lowered 180° and the straight sofa occupies a horizontal plane.
The sofas stand out with click-clack and functional armrests. They also have three positions: if you install them at a maximum angle, you get compact furniture; if you unfold them, you get a full-fledged bed. Such armrests are optional, that is, you can buy a sofa without them.
The back and seat are connected using a three-position lock. To unfold the sofa, you need to lift the seat – when the click-clack transformation mechanism reaches the “relax” position, a click will be heard. If you continue to lift the seat, you will hear a second click – the sofa can be folded horizontally.
“Assembly” occurs in a similar way. We raise the seat until we hear a characteristic sound.
